Life can be pretty chaotic at times. It can feel overwhelming.

With work demands and responsibilities at home, we find it challenging to find time. Right?

In such circumstances, saving even five minutes for ourselves can be a luxury. So if you do get a few minutes to yourself, why not jazz up your space for a better experience?

For instance, you may want a peaceful and cosy corner if you like to read. It’s ideal for savouring what you read; the experience is worth it.

Reading a book in your free time, tucked into a cosy corner, is sheer luxury and relaxation, of course! While you may think a reading nook needs to have a plush pillow, a beanbag to curl into, and a footrest, it’s not.

The primary requirement is to relax, and thus you can find relaxation even when it is just a corner.

  • Create a reading nook for two

If you want to read in the company of your beloved, or with your friend, or even with a pet, then you may want to bring a loveseat to your reading area. Be sure to include several comfortable pillows, preferably oversized pillows. For aesthetics, add wall art, photos and inspiring quotes. Don’t bring cats, though, and they can shred your books happily.

  • Add some colour

Colour can brighten your day and inspire you in no time. If you want your reading nook to be a happy one, why not add a dash of colour?

For instance, you can add a colourful chair, a two-tone pillow and a powder-coloured side table. These add enough colour to the space, stir the air and add vibrancy to it.

  • Do without the chair

No space for a chair? Don’t worry. It is not needed.

Sometimes, all you need are a soft blanket, faux-fur pelts, pillows, and maybe camp chairs, small tables and footstools.

With these items, even the tiniest corners can look tempting.

  • Make space for naps

A reading nook does not have to be only for reading, and you may want to unwind, relax and recharge. It’s even ideal for that.

If you’re going to use a corner solely for naps, that’s cool too. All you need is a lounge chair, pillows, blankets and a smaller music system.

  • Gallery walls for more inspiration

When you have put down your book, you may want to let your mind wander a bit. Why not have a small wall gallery of your favourite art pieces for such times?

This can include vintage signs, famous ad copies, landscape pieces, and more.

Heck, you can add a copy of the Mona Lisa if that inspires you!

Or, if you are an avid fantasy story header, artwork from Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings can work.

  • Lounge amidst a jungle of houseplants
